Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Aspen: Your New Best Friend!
It’s hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) American Eskimo / Pomeranian mix found himself in a high-kill shelter in Arkansas. Aspen is a 1-year-old, 22-pound bundle of love with the perfect amount of energy for his age. Whether it’s running and playing outside, hiking, or exploring, Aspen would thrive in a home with a family or retirees who enjoy the great outdoors. After a fun day of adventure, Aspen is happy to settle down and relax on the couch, ready to enjoy some downtime with his people.
Aspen’s story is as heartwarming as it is sad—originally adopted from a puppy store, this American Eskimo was given up when his family moved. Despite that hardship, Aspen has retained his sweet and joyful spirit, eager to start the next chapter of his life with a loving forever family. He’s a smart pup, true to his breed, and has the potential to become a completely bonded and loyal companion.
Aspen's foster has let us know that he is amazing with other dogs, and does great with their kids, ages 9 - 13. He also loves other dogs, and he loves water!
Since Aspen is still a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. He will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a dog's ultimate behavior and in their relationship/bonding with their people. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
Aspen has been fully vetted, is up to date on his shots, and neutered.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
Applications are currently being accepted for Aspen. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
