CO foster update: She is SUCH a sweet girl. Just wants all the love - loves to cuddle and lay on me. She is potty trained and quiet in the crate, but she has been a great snuggle buddy in bed too!
She’ll be a little nervous and submissive at first, but her tail will be wagging excited to meet people within seconds! She has gotten along great with all dogs, even a 15 year old blind Chihuahua! She was calm and gentle when pet by young kids. She sleeps most of the day, but she LOVES to run and play too. So she is the best of both worlds! Her little heart spot on her back is just the cutest thing ever.
Is there such thing is a perfect pity ? Smiley! This girl is AMAZING! The sweetest, purest, most loving dog ever! She is sweet and submissive, loves everyone, all dogs, big and small, even mean grumpy senior dogs. She is smart, uses the doggy doors, no food aggression, shown signs of being potty trained, she is your perfect girl.

Smiley was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She was surrendered to the shelter with a litter of puppies and they were all hours away from euthanasia before we were able to step in and save them.

- If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded.
- Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance. We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
- The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.

- Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.
- A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs. Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive. From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs.
