My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐕 🐕 JACK is 4 months, 20 pounds, Border collie Mix and #AVAILABLE – for more pictures please click https://norcalbcrescue.org/available-dogs/our-dogs/ 🐕 🐕

Meet 4-month-old JACK (of the Three’s Company litter; sisters Janet & Crissy are fostering with other families and will be available soon). The smallest of the three pups at 20 pounds, Jack is a rowdy, fun-loving, energetic boy, who loves people and other dogs with equal enthusiasm. Everyone and everything is his play pal. He even finds or makes a party at the vet’s office (see photos). He is very photogenic with his North by Northeast ears highlighted in every picture.

While JACK is a party animal (aka enthusiastic) and will benefit from training, he is crate-trained, rides well in a crate in the car, and after a good romp will settle next to his foster mom or curl up in her lap. He loves to be handled and touched with is a bonus for going to the vet and for getting to know new people. We were delighted to discover that he has a focus button. When we took him to a photographer for a photo shoot, he posed like a super model. She even took photos of him for some of her pet product clients, who needed advertising photos of happy dogs enjoying their toys and treats. That was easy, as Jack loves toys and treats and wasn’t shy about posing, as if he has been doing photo shoots his whole life.

JACK has beautiful, tri-colored markings and an easy-care, smooth coat. We love his one-up-one-down ears, but suspect the floppy ear will stand up when he’s through with teething. He might be mixed with a livestock guardian dog of some kind as he has double dew claws on both of his back feet—best and easily removed when he’s neutered so they don’t catch on things when he’s having fun.

JACK is a lovely fellow, who wants to be someone’s pal dog; he wants to be with his people. Left to his own devices in a yard alone, he will find things to do like digging or chewing on plants. (But why adopt a border collie puppy, if you’re just going to leave him in the yard?) Jack would be a great adventure buddy and or even a sports dog candidate; he’s fast and agile. He needs to learn basics like how to walk on a leash, etc., but he’s treat and toy motivated and wants to please, so he’ll be a quick learner. He is making progress on house-training. When he came into rescue, he had multiple parasites, which made it hard for him not to have accidents. Happily, those days are behind him, and he’s learning where to go. He will thrive with a human that has patience and knows how to train a smart and energetic pup.

JACK is current on vaccinations, as well as heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He are microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be altered by their new owner when they reach approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.

If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Application and wish to enquire (or apply here - https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) about the pups, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

JACK is being fostered north of Sacramento County, CA.
