My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 6 Months Old

Gender: Male

Breed: Terrier Mix

Weight: 34 lbs

Personality: Benny is a playful and energetic puppy with a loving and loyal personality! He loves being outside, playing with his foster brother, and is highly food-motivated. While he can be a bit shy at first, once comfortable, his fun and sassy side shines through. He enjoys toys, especially balls and bones, and needs plenty of outdoor time, walks, and enrichment activities to keep him happy and engaged.

Education: Leash trained and walks very well on a leash. He is crate trained but still needs some practice. He is transitioning from being pad trained as a puppy to going to the bathroom only outside. While he occasionally has accidents indoors, he does go to the bathroom in the grass, backyard, and on walks. Will need puppy lessons.

Favorite Activities: LOVES laying in the sun, rolling and running in the grass, wrestling with his foster brother, and enjoying food time. Walks, car rides, chewing on bones, and getting belly rubs and kisses.

Looking for: Benny would thrive in an active home with owners who have plenty of time to dedicate to his training and socialization, as he is still young and needs continued guidance. He needs a slow intro to dogs and can sometimes be dog selective. Benny could do well as the only dog in the home, as he loves being the center of attention -- or a home with another dog if the dogs are a good match.

Adoption Fee: $ 500

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
