Meet Skyy, a sweet and timid girl who's looking for a patient and loving home. Though she's nervous at first, she does welcome affection and walks well without pulling.
Skyy seeks comfort and care from her human friends, leaning in for snugs and allowing all-over pets. While she's not too interested in treats just yet, we're sure she'll warm up and be ready to share some snacks soon.
Skyy is ready to find a calm, reassuring home where she can blossom! Could you be the one to help her shine?
Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Skyy at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering her.

Behavior notes:
Per staff 10/19/24: Skyy got out for some one on one time today! She was less nervous coming out, coming right up to the door and allowing for easy leashing. Once we got to the eval room she did a nice shake off and loosened right up! She wagged her tail and sniffed around, rubbing against me for some love. She's so much more comfortable now! Skyy jumped into the other handlers lap and leaned in for pets and love. Another staff member came in and Skyy was a little nervous at first, but approached the new person on her own with low wags and allowed some all over pets! It's so nice to see Skyy opening up! When it was time to return to kennel she gave me no issues.
Per Volunteer 10/18/24: Sweet and timid Skyy really opened up when we took her to the yard. She was hesitant to come out of her kennel and pulling a lot on her walk (trying to get away from people, go closer to the fence, etc.) but once we were in the yard she started to open up! Cuddled up against my leg and loved pets. Tail high and wagging, running around. She even sniffed a tennis ball!! She I had a beautiful white coat and bright blue eye. She will make someone's best friend once they earn her trust.
Important: really opened up when she saw a dog pass by the fence. Got so happy and was running around. Might just need a doggie brother or sister to show her the world isn't so scary.
Per Volunteer 10/17/24:
She definitely seemed scared when I approached her kennel, but allowed me to leash very easily and she popped right out. She does pull a bit, but I think with a harness there wouldn't be any issue. When we got out to the play yard, she did several laps walking around and it took a bit of time to come to me. She didn't seem interested in me until I knelt on the ground more at her level and she loosened up. She took treats from me super gently! A little spooked if I approached her too quickly, but she was always very loose, just shy and would step back to put some space between us. She ended up taking some pets for me...very scared girl but warms up with me after some time!
10/16/24 volunteer notes: Skyy is a shy girl who is overwhelmed at the shelter. Once she got out to the run and got a little acclimated, she opened up a bit and solicited pets. She's really sweet and will be able to show her true personality once adopted!

BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Owned
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Sky was standing by the door and was very nervous with wide eyes pinned ears, and pancaked herself. When she saw the leash she pinned herself in the front corner by the door. She was nervous of the leash and dodged it a bit but allowed the handler to reach in and place it over her head. No issues returning
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING:
In the room Sky was very sweet and timid. She would solicit attention from both handlers and would approach with submissive and soft body language. She had no interest in treats but would seek out attention and comfort from her handlers. She allowed all over handling without any issues and leaned in when petting her. Very sweet and timid girl!
