My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This cutie is Kira! She is a happy-go-lucky 1 year old girl who is labeled as a lab (+ probably pittie) mix. She weighs-in right around 45lbs, so is just the most perfect medium-sized pup! Kira (female) joined the New Leash family from North Carolina, and has been learning all about the ins & outs of home life since her arrival! Some of her favorite things include belly rubs and attention + spoils from her humans. She loves going for walks, but is also A-OK with a good ol’ lazy day @ home. Her foster mom works from home, and Kira makes the most perfect office mate. She doesn’t bark, curls up in a cuddly ball, and settles in for the day! Kira is crate-trained; she kennels-up easily when her humans leave, and sleeps in her crate throughout the night. She does very well with other dogs (of all ages, sizes, etc.), but does like to roughhouse/play…so can sometimes be a little “much” for senior and/or smaller dogs. She would do best with a pup-friend who can keep up with her + reciprocate her play! She does ok with the resident cat, but again can be a bit rough…so would do best in a home with dog-savvy kitties who are able to hold their own. Of note: she’s never mean, she just wants to play! Kira is completely potty-trained (win!) and has done an amazing job adapting to a schedule. Once settled into this routine, her accidents have been next to none. Another perk: she’s also familiar with a doggy-door! Kira knows how to sit, is working on “down,” is very food motivated (& gets SO excited for food/treat time! ), and loves toys. She is still a young gal, and is continuing to work on all of her good-girl manners! She tends to get excited and displays some herding behaviors (feet nipping) when her humans are going down the stairs. And while having improved greatly, does still occasionally jump up on people when excited. Because of this, we’d recommend kiddos in the home who are past the toddler stage! She can also pull on walks, and does much better walking with a harness vs a collar. While Kira continues to learn every day, we know she’d benefit immensely from some training classes! She is smart and catches onto things quickly, so will undoubtedly thrive once her fullest potential is unlocked! She is seriously an amazingly loving girl…with such a kind heart + zest for life! And we can’t wait to finally introduce her to the forever life she’s ever so deserving of. If she sounds like the one for you, please apply + reach out via private message. Just ask for Kira!
