My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Learning the ropes, one leash walk at a time. Sophia(A56966892) is a beautiful 7 month old, female, tri-color, American Pitbull Terrier with a gentle, timid soul. Though a bit shy at first, Sophia is slowly gaining confidence every day and learning how to explore the world around her. She`s currently working on walking on a leash and making steady progress, with patience and encouragement being key to her growth. Sophia has a sweet, tender-hearted nature and is looking for a loving home that will continue to nurture her as she blossoms into the wonderful companion she`s meant to be. She’s ready to meet someone who can give her the time and care she deserves! Sophia’s cost of adoption includes:

Spay/Neuter
First set of vaccines
Rabies Vaccine
Routine dewormer
Free vet examination
Flea & tick treatment
Microchip

Additional adoption info

In the Central Valley, we have an over abundance of homeless and unwanted pets. There are simply too many companion animals and not enough homes! But you can help. One way to start putting an end to pet overpopulation is to adopt your next pet from the Central California SPCA. In doing so, you immediately give a home to an animal that didn’t have one, and you reduce the overall number of homeless pets in our community.

You are saving a life and enhancing your own. You are also helping to support the nearly 17,000 animals that come through our doors each year.

Please note that these are sheltered, homeless animals that are not always perfect in every way. They may need extra time to adjust or have unforeseen behavioral or medical problems. While we strive for successful placement by providing as healthy, well socialized animals as possible, we can only provide any history we have received, collected, or observed from staff or volunteers during their stay. More about this shelter

As the premier animal welfare organization in California’s Central Valley since 1895, we are committed to leading and serving our community of animals and people by providing programs and services which serve all the stages of an animal’s life. These programs include Adoptions, Rescue, Humane Investigations, Foster Care, Owner Surrenders, Outreach, Humane Education, Veterinary Services, Spay/Neuter programs, and many other Pet Services.

The CCSPCA also assumes responsibility, by contract, to perform the Animal Control and Leash Law services for the City of Fresno dating back to September 1951.

The modern facilities and our caring staff offer safe refuge, nourishment, medical care, and love to every animal in our Animal Center.

We are not federally, state, or locally funded and do not receive aid from any national organization (including the ASPCA). The CCSPCA owns its own land, buildings, and equipment purchased with privately donated funds. Our funds come from our loyal supporters, allowing us to provide many vital services to our community.

Donate a bed!

Please help us to make our shelter dogs and cats more comfortable while waiting for homes. We still don't have enough Kuranda beds for all of our kennels. We need them in all sizes. If you would like to donate a bed so a dog or cat can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.
