My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT ME...
My name is Peanut. My owner went into the hospital long-term, leaving my mother, sister, and me to find new homes. We had been left alone for several days with no food or water, not able to go outside to potty, and terribly infested with fleas. I am a four-year-old, dachshund, pomeranian, and lab mix.. COPAW rescued us and placed me with a great foster mom.

I AM GREAT WITH...
I am great at sleeping. I would sleep all day if you let me. I love to cuddle with my human. That is my favorite thing to do. I love everyone, men, women, and older kids. The kids must be gentle, I do not like roughhouse, but I do like other dogs and cats. In case you are wondering, I am housebroken. If my foster mom is getting dressed, I will politely use the pee paid she laid down for me. I am so happy I have the pad, so I do not have accidents in the house. My foster mom says I am a great walker on the leash. I love to go for walks with my foster mom.

I AM STILL WORKING ON...
I do not like the crate at all. I try to eat the metal bars so I can escape. Being left alone makes me anxious, I cry while my foster mom is at work. I get so upset I have broken two gates and broke out of the kennel twice. I am simply scared my foster mom in not coming back and I do not want to be left along again. I am trying hard to do better. Once I am in my forever home and I learn the routine, my fear of being left alone should improve.

I AM NOT GOOD WITH...
I do not like to share my food. I will become food aggressive. My foster mom said it is probably because I went a long time without food while my previous owner was in the hospital, and I was extremely hungry. Right now, I want to fight the other dogs for my food. I am working on this. I think once I realize I will be fed everyday I will not mind sharing my food. My foster mom says all around I am the best boy ever, just do not ever leave my side.
