My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jupiter and Nita
Although we are not sisters, our bond is just as tight. Jupiter is the younger cat at 3-years-old. She is nearly solid black with a sprinkling of white hair. Nita is 7-years-old, and a brown and black mackerel tabby. I am Nita, a much more laid-back kind of girl. Maybe it`s because I`m older and more experienced, but Jupiter can work herself into a tizzy. She is so scared of being picked up, given medical treatments, or moved that she overreacts. Jupiter might hiss, swat, or even nip when feeling frightened. I try telling her to relax, but she ignores my advice. When we lived in the 4- room apartments, Jupiter felt trapped when people needed to move things around or give her medicine. I think living in the Roaming Room with more space and hiding places gives her a sense of security. When the interviewer lady (IL) came to talk with us, Jupiter rushed to greet her, purring and rubbing against her legs. Even I was surprised; she was so friendly and outgoing! Of course, I was very welcoming and invited the IL to pet me. I stayed by her feet, purring and head-butting her. You probably wonder why we are up for adoption. Our owners are getting divorced and don`t want to split us up. I appreciate their thoughtfulness, but we would like to find our forever home asap. We do ask that our new family all be over the age of 12. Little kids would freak Jupiter out! 11-4-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
