My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Liberty and her sister Coral are wild-born kittens who were rescued by a kindly man who would not give up on them. But because they were not rescued until 3 months old, they have retained some skittishness and fear of strange people, quick movements, and unfamiliar events. For this reason, Liberty would probably not be a good fit for a home with younger children or lots of commotion. But in a serene home, she blossoms, and loves to be petted all over and to purr up a storm. She especially loves chasing string toys! And she also appreciates a bit of canned food or roasted chicken as treats. Liberty needs another young, playful cat or kitten to grow up with.

Please note young kittens are adopted out in pairs or to a home with another playful cat or kitten.

More about this rescue

Smittens isn’t just another cat rescue.
We are a coalition of volunteers with a spay/neuter mission, dedicated to helping both stray and owned animals in the greater San Diego area get fixed, receive veterinary care, and whatever else they may need! Smittens works with shelters and other rescues to route cats to proper vet care and eventual homes, and we take in stray cats who need help getting off the street. We also support TNR for feral cats, and assist cat and dog owners to get their own pets fixed and vaccinated at a low cost.
