My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Stripe and I am from Alabama.

Stripe is the strongest little dog I've ever met. Let's do the basics first he is home trained. He is very food motivated so I am assuming he will be easy to train. He does like to counter serve but I assume that is because he had to be a scavenger for quite a while. He is such a loving boy. Against all odds, he is a survivor and he has a strong heart. He is recovering nicely from mange and from having his leg amputated. He gets along with my dog wonderfully. He hardly barks. He sometimes goes in his grade reluctantly, but I just throw a couple treats in there and then he hops in there. I don't know if you want all of his health problems he's not neutered , he's heartworm positive and he's recovering from heaven his right front leg amputated. His hair is growing back nicely. He is one of the most easiest Fosters I have had. I love him to death.

I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

From his foster: Stripe is a champion. He had his front right leg amputated because it was broken. He is recovering from mange and is looking pretty handsome. He is healing nicely and such a trooper. Stripe has one light blue eye, and one gold eye, which has a little white spot, a little off center of the iris. Stripe is soaking up pets and cuddles. He is a counter surfer though even with three legs we are working on that. He is learning to sit.
he is heartworm positive and will be starting his treatment soon. Also, he needs to be neutered.
He is always happy when I greet him in the morning or I come home from work. He gets along with my resident dog wonderfully in fact they don't really bother each other.

From the Vet:
Hi! My name is Stripe, you may be wondering about my medical history given my good looks, so my friends and TBB Vet Center wanted to help me share a bit more about me. I was brought to TBB desperately needing ongoing vet care for several concerns. The most obvious was my severe demodex mange, this is a treatable condition caused by a parasitic mite, but it is not contagious to dogs or humans and can be controlled with monthly flea and tick prevention. Once this is under control my skin will start to clear up! The second most obvious need was my very broken and infected compound fracture on my front right leg. The specialty surgery team came right away and helped me get rid of that mess. I'm sure I will live long and happy on my 3 remaining legs! Beyond that I will still need to go through heartworm treatment (series of 3 injections) and a dental procedure with likely extractions needed. My adopters can rest assured that TBB will cover both of these medical needs in my adoption contract + 1 round of medications associated with each visit. We can't wait to see what I look like when I'm all healed up and settled in my forever home. Could you be that home? Hope to meet you soon!!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
