My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Amara is a beautiful, all-black kitten with a heart as big as her spirit. This sweet girl is on a quest to find a loving forever home that can provide the extra care she needs. Despite facing some physical challenges, Amara's zest for life and affectionate nature shine through in everything she does.

With her sleek ebony coat and bright, curious eyes, Amara is a cute little beauty. She’s a playful soul who enjoy toys. She adores human attention, loving pets and cuddles.

Amara faces some unique challenges that make her all the more special. While she has control over her front legs, her back legs aren't able to support her weight, though she can wiggle and kick them. This condition doesn't dampen her spirits one bit – Amara has adapted remarkably well and still manages to play and explore with enthusiasm. Her condition may be due to Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH), which is like a feline cerebral palsy, or possibly swimmer’s syndrome.

Despite these challenges, Amara is a determined little girl with a lot of ambition. While she can hold her bladder for a while, she does experience some leakage. So, she’s getting used to wearing a diaper. She needs help expressing her bladder a few times each day. As Amara grows, she may gain improved mobility in her back legs. We're working closely with her doctors to monitor her progress.

The ideal home for Amara would include a feline friend. She seems to long for kitty companionship and would thrive in a household with another cat to play and snuggle with. Amara Her new family will be able to continue her physical therapy regime at home. This therapy is crucial for maintaining and potentially improving her mobility.

This brave little fighter is ready for the loving forever home she deserves. By welcoming Amara into your home, you'll not only be gaining a loving, devoted companion but also experiencing the immense rewards of helping a special needs animal flourish. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this extraordinary little girl?

More about this rescue

Rescue, Retrain, Redeem, and Re-home.
Redemption Road Rescue Rehab Inc (aka R4) is a 501(c)(3), not-for-profit organization based in Lake County, Illinois. R4 functions as an all-breed and ages, dog and cat rescue that specializes in behavioral training and rehabilitation. We are a professionally operated nonprofit dog and cat rescue run by certified dog trainers. We believe the solution to “difficult” animals cannot just be euthanasia. Our mission is to place dogs and cats that have undergone our rehabilitation program with responsible, reliable, and devoted owners. Our training specialty is centered in dog behaviors and understanding the canine mind. We take in all breeds, all ages and work with domesticated felines and feral cat colonies as well. Our expectations of adopters: 1- Consider the animal as an individual with their own personality and behaviors. 2- Be willing to learn, ask questions, and implement training into their daily routine. 3- Work alongside our team to prepare their home to provide the best environment for their new family member. R4 is 100% volunteer-run and foster-based and relies on donations, fundraisers, grants, and sponsorships to allow our organization to fulfill our mission to animals in need.
