My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: NJ
Meet Flounder! This super sweet boy is about 1-2 years old, 30 lbs and is a complete love bug once he gets to know you. Flounder is your typical cattle dog and is aloof when meeting new people. He likes to observe people first and when he feels comfortable he will engage with them. A cookie does help with that as he is food motivated. Once Flounder gets to know someone then he is your shadow and wants to be with you 24/7. He is a master cuddler and enjoys hanging out on the couch and watching some movies. He would be the perfect companion for someone who is looking for a weekend warrior. He is a medium energy boy who loves to run around in the yard and get his energy out. Flounder is still learning to walk on the leash. He is head shy so he does better when he is on a harness. Flounder is potty trained and crate trained.

Flounder LOVES other dogs. His personality blossoms when he has a confident dog to guide him. Flounder enjoys playing with both male and female dogs of all sizes. He looks to other dogs for cues with new people and does warm up quicker if another dog is there. Flounder enjoys going out to breweries and hiking but he working on car rides. He does get car sick but his foster family is working on that with him. He is a very smart boy and enjoys learning. We would love for his new family to take him to some training classes to build his confident and work on a loving bond with his new family.

Flounders new family must have a physically fenced in yard, another confident playful dog and a family that is patience and willing to work with Flounder. Flounder currently lives with cats and does fine with them. His new family needs to be willing to take him to training classes and children in the home must be 14 years or older.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
