Nice to meet you! Let me introduce myself - I am a handsome black and white Border Collie mix who is about 2 years old and weighs 72 lbs. When you first meet me, you'll notice my soft and luxurious coat (complete with white boots), soulful amber eyes, and first-class smile. My smile has been one of my trademarks here at the shelter (I've been told it's contagious too!) and it's definitely one of the many reasons I'm a volunteer and staff fave.
The best part of my day is when I get to be outside with my volunteer pals. I get soooo excited and can show my excitement by jumps and hugs in the kennel. But I know that they are at the controls so I listen well when I'm told to sit, especially with a yummy treat. I walk well on leash and will often pause to check on my volunteer buddy to make sure they're enjoying the walk just as much as I am. I love to cruise the yard, play fetch (I even know to "drop the ball), and show off the many commands I've been coached on. I can "sit, "go down, and "come back, among others. A little treat goes a long way with me. I also like to let my volunteer pal know that they're doing a great job too by giving them a pawshake! I'm quite the love bug and will never turn my nose up to one-on-one cuddles, belly rubs, and back scratches. For this reason, it's probably best I fly solo and go to a home where I can be your one and only! But trust me, I have more than enough love under my wing to share with my new furever family.
So, if you're in search for a companion who is equal parts adorable, intelligent, loyal, playful, loving, and sweet- I'm your boy! Whether we're soaking in some sunshine, staying cozy on the couch, or simply keeping one another company, I'm happy to be by your side! So glide on over to our shelter to come meet me in person to see if we'd pawssibly be a good match! Can't wait to shake your hand!
Ryder was brought to our shelter on 8/29/24 after being found in Sunol. He hasn't been reclaimed by his previous person, so he's now looking for a new home. Ryder is looking for a home where he won't have to share you with another dog.
His adoption fee is $35, plus licensing (if applicable).
** Ryder would do best in a home without another dog **

THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING If you are interested, please call the East County Animal Shelter at 925-803-7040 to see if this dog is still available.
Please browse our adoptable animals. We make every effort to keep our listings updated.
Each of our animals has contact information in the description - either referencing the phone number of the foster volunteer who is fostering the animal or East County Animal Shelter contact information if a shelter animal.
If you have questions, please use the contact information in the description directly. We attempt to forward emails sent to contact@tvar.org to the foster though it is not necessarily before the animal is adopted. Also, volunteers who monitor this email do not know the animals whereas the fosters do!
If a dog or puppy is in foster with TVAR, please fill out an adoption application (available here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TVAR/Dog). We consider each application and pick the best one for the animal in question. In general, we do not do out of area adoptions. Kittens do not need applications completed - just contact the foster!
If an animal is at ECAS, they have their own adoption process. Please go to ECAS (they are open daily 11:30am to 5:30pm except holidays) to meet the animal and learn about ECAS's adoption process.
All TVAR animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, treated for worms and fleas, and microchipped. Felines are FIV/FeLV tested. Many of our pets also come with a "packed bag" that can include a variety of goodies like bedding, food, toys, leashes, and even private training sessions with our professional trainers. Adoption fees vary by species. Our fee range is $120-$350. The foster volunteer can provide specifics for the animals in their care.

More about this rescue
Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily place shelter animals in foster care of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them permanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our East County Animal Shelter shelter volunteers who socialize shelter animals daily and assist the public in selecting a pet to adopt.
We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page (https://www.tvar.org/volunteer/) for information.
