Bodhi is a sweet dude with a playful nature. he barks when he wants attention, but melts into you when he gets it. he's easy to walk on-leash (I use a gentle slip-lead that goes around his head, which is soft but effective). he's very curious walking outside, always looking around and tilting his nose up in the air to get information about the world. He seems to like other dogs but I haven't seen him playing with them off-leash yet. He's been friendly and respectful with my resident dog at home. he warms up to strangers almost instantky and will lean into them for a hello and some petting. this kind of interaction makes his tail wag rapidly.
Bodhi is a goofball -- a comedian. when he wants to play, he"ll stare directly into your eyes and bark. he LOVES to chase a ball and is very proud of himself when he is able to fetch it. he's strong-willed, but a VERY QUICK LEARNER. he's housebroken and learning to be quieter and calmer in his crate, although that goal needs some ongoing work. (however, he has started going into the crate on his own to chew on treats or puzzle toys that I throw in there).
he doesn't bite, but he can be toothy when he plays, so he'll need an owner who can patiently teach him how to play with his humans without being mouthy. he's responding well to positive reinforcement and needs someone who will give him structure -- he's very comfortable with a regular routine. In the morning, he loves to go to the front of the apartment and look outside to see what the neighbors are up to. he looks at the trees and birds and quietly observes people and dogs walking by.
Bodhi loves food and is highly food-motivated. He really enjoys short training sessions with tiny treats as rewards, and when he learns something new, he hops around with silly excitement. he likes chew toys and adores his dog bed. and he snores. 😴
For a dog who's clearly been mistreated in the past, he shows remarkable openness to new humans and new situations. With an owner who makes him feel safe and provides patient training and a regular routine, he'll be a superstar

Puppy Kitty NYC was founded in the Fall of 2014. As of July 2018, we are an official 501(c)(3) organization. We focus on three aspects: First, finding homes for abandoned or friendly street cats and kittens. Secondly, attempting to control animal overpopulation by spaying and neutering feral cats and helping the sick and injured. Thirdly, fostering is a must.
