Here's what the humans have to say about me:
🐾 Meet Kiwi! 🐾
Kiwi is a sweet, playful -1 year old brindle mix, weighing a healthy 75 lbs. She’s spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and ready to find her forever family!
In her foster home, Kiwi has lived with older children and other dogs, and she fit right in. She’s had the chance to attend professional training, where she blossomed in obedience and socialization with other dogs. Kiwi loves to play with her canine friends and does great in spaces where she can explore and unwind. She’s also learned how to read other dogs’ cues, respecting their need for space when her energy gets a little high.
Kiwi’s training has come along beautifully! Each session starts with fun activities like scent work or agility exercises. She’s a big fan of puzzles, scent boxes, and sniffing for treats—anything that gives her curious mind a workout.
Here’s a bit more about Kiwi:
Crate-trained – Kiwi sleeps through the night without a sound.
Obedience – She knows "sit," "touch," "down," "roll," and more!
Leash and Car – Great on a leash and a happy traveler.
Personality – Gentle with kids, patient when taking treats, and respectful with other dogs.
Kiwi is looking for an active, loving family who will give her plenty of chances to play and explore.
Could Kiwi be the perfect match for your family?

More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
