If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
We are looking to rehome our very loving 6.5 year old Australian Retriever as it is no longer safe to have him in our home with our toddler and newborn.
For background, our Australian Retriever, Hunter, has been a wonderful part of our family. He has a history of not being great with other dogs unless he is comfortable with them but has never showed any signs of aggression towards humans. Unfortunately, a little over a year ago, he did bite our 10 month old daughter and we were told it was a "warning snip", but she did require stitches. We kept them separated and worked on reintroduction over time per our vet's recommendation and spoke with a behavioral therapist, always monitoring them constantly. Unfortunately, he did snip and growl at our 2 year old recently and we do not feel comfortable continuing to have him in our home with 2 small children. He is an amazing dog for those without little kids and we are hoping to find him a loving home that can be a better fit for him.
