Meet CHESTNUT, the sweet and loving standard poodle!
This calm, house-trained boy has a passion for chasing balls and would thrive in a home where he can run and play to his heart’s content. Chestnut gets along great with other dogs and seems to do well with children too. While he may need a little time to warm up to new people, once he does, he loves scratches and belly rubs. Chestnut is gentle when taking treats from your hand, walks well on a leash, and already knows how to sit and lie down on command. He’s also crate-trained, which makes life a little easier! One of Chestnut’s most endearing traits? His adorable pose when he crosses his front legs—such a charmer! Easygoing and affectionate, Chestnut is ready to bring joy and companionship to his forever home. If you’re looking for a gentle soul to complete your family, Chestnut might just be your perfect match!

We do not transport dogs. All dogs must be picked up from Northern VA in person by the adopter.

Somerset Cottage Poodle Rescue, established in 2013, is an all volunteer 501c(3) dog rescue funded by your donations. We rescue companion and senior dogs, at risk for euthanasia, from overcrowded shelters and provide them with the medical attention they need. We also redone dogs for owners who can no longer care for them. We do not have a facility so all of our dogs live in foster homes through out the Northern Virginia area until their adoption day. We are proud that we find them perfectly matched forever homes and families. We rescue and find permanent homes for approximately 250 dogs a year.
