MEET SAMMY:
Sammy is a sweet 2-year-old, 8lb Shih Tzu who was found as a stray in Detroit. He landed in overcrowded shelter where he was terrified by the noise and chaos and was not initially outwardly friendly with the shelter staff due to how fearful he was. Sammy has sinced changed his tune in a foster home and has been very sweet and is now looking for a loving home where he can feel safe and secure.
Sammy can be a bit timid at first, but once he feels comfortable in his environment, he has a charming personality that shines through. He loves to seek attention from his humans and will quickly become your loyal companion.
Sammy enjoys going for leash walks and rides well in the car, making him a great travel buddy. He has demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and gets along well with other respectful dogs. While he has shown no interest in cats, he would thrive in a home with older, dog-savvy children or adults only, as he does best in a quieter environment. Due to his young age and playful demeanor, Sammy is looking for an active family that can still keep up with him. He can also have a tendency to be vocal and alert you to all the possible dangers that may (or may not) be concerning, therefore he may not make the best dog for an apartment or a tightly-knit community.
Sammy is crate trained, although he is not a fan of being crated and may bark initially. He has a short tolerance for grooming and over-handling, so he will require a patient and experienced groomer to help him feel at ease during grooming sessions.

OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. OUR PRIMARY ADOPTION AREA IS WITHIN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN.
