Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Meet Smokey! Born around July 17th, 2024, Smokey is a Retriever mix expected
to weigh around 40-50 lbs when fully grown. He's an independent, quiet,
curious, and cuddly little explorer who loves to discover new things. Smokey
enjoys toys, playing in the dirt, treats, gentle pets, and rolling in the
grass. While he's not too fond of brooms or vacuums, he's otherwise a
charming and adaptable companion. Smokey has a funny habit of finding toys
bigger than he is and dragging them around, convinced that his fellow pups
don't see him. He may not be the most discreet about it, but it's adorable!
He is doing amazing with house training. Smokey would do well in a home with
any age children, as he's very gentle in nature. Though he hasn't had much
interaction with kids, his calm demeanor makes him a great fit for families.
He has been around other dogs and is curious about them, though he loves
cuddling and sleeping with his foster siblings even more. An ideal home for
Smokey would be a family who appreciates both his independent spirit and his
moments of cuddly affection. He is easygoing and would be suitable for
first-time pet owners. He is current on vaccines, and his adoption fee will
include his future neuter and microchip. If you're ready to welcome Smokey
into your life, please contact us at adopt@carolinapaws.com.

More about this rescue
Carolina P.A.W.S. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization comprised of a network of compassionate Carolinians, all of whom are volunteers. We are devoted to helping abandoned and abused cats and dogs throughout the greater Charlotte area find loving homes. CPAWS does not have a facility and relies entirely on volunteer foster parents to care for an animal until we are able to find a pet their forever home. Our founding members have been collectively involved in animal rescue for over 20 years.
Carolina P.A.W.S. volunteers can be found "in the trenches," rescuing animals at high risk- those starving on the streets, languishing in shelters, and suffering in abusive situations. Each animal has a different past but our promise to them all is the same…a second chance. We provide them with medical attention, rehabilitate them physically and emotionally, and care for them in foster homes until they can be placed in loving permanent homes.
Along the way, we prepare them to become wonderful companions by taking the time to socialize them and patiently teaching them to trust. We also spay/neuter each one, provide all inoculations, and ensure that they are in perfect health before being made available for adoption.
