My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Col. Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue

www.cairnrescue.com

Meet Buttercup, and yes, she is a princess! Buttercup’s came to Col. Potter in the Spring when her momma passed. Her momma rescued dogs so we don’t know what happened in Buttercup’s first few years that makes it difficult to trust strangers, but she really wants to be loved – it just takes some time. She has learning that her foster mom gives good scritches and has a warm lap for this little white Westie/Poodle mix. Buttercup is only 5 years, and is more poodle than terrier in her build and personality, which means she kind of bounces around the house and will stand up on her hind legs and talk to you as though she knows a circus routine! She gets along with other dogs although she doesn’t put up with puppy nonsense from the youngest dog in the house. Would you like a small dog that cuddles in your lap and is happy to go for walkies with you? Are you willing to help her learn to trust you for the first few months? Then this little princess may be the perfect fit for you!

**** FOSTER HOMES NEEDED! ****

YOU can make a huge difference by fostering just one dog. ONE dog, ONE time a year = ONE life that could be saved! Each and everyday we have the opportunity to save more Cairns in need, but we can't do it if we don't have the Foster Homes to place them in. Would you like to learn more on how you can help?

'Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog.'

More about this rescue

We are NOT A SHELTER with a single physical location. Instead, we are a national network of volunteers working to help re-home Cairns in need.
We began as a small internet community of people trying to help one of their members through the heartache of losing a little Cairn named Col. Potter. In the weeks that followed that simple process of showing care and support, a national Cairn terrier rescue was born. It filled a void to serve a wonderful, randomly protected, and sometimes misunderstood breed. Cairns can have every kind of personality, from laid back to intensely lively; most fall somewhere in between.

Our rescue attracts caring foster homes who will provide guidance and love; sometimes for the first time in a rescued Cairn's life. Our foster homes also provide an honest, realistic evaluation of each Cairn's personality, so an approved applicant can expect to be matched with a Cairn whose traits and behaviors fit their lifestyle.

At present, Col. Potter has just under 200 foster homes all over the United States.
