My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cooper is a senior male Yorkie. He was surrendered by his owner and CAWS was happy to give him a safe place to hang out until he finds his people. He's a spunky and charming little guy who just LOVES humans. He would be thrilled to be your Velcro dog for the rest of his days. This big-personality-in-a -small-body dog is 13 years young, but you'd never guess it. He loves walks, playing, food, jumping on and off furniture almost as much and snoozing right next to his human.

He's tiny but mighty in his muscular eight pound frame and the vet found no arthritis or age-related issues (other than needing a dental) to keep him from enjoying life to the fullest. He has classic Yorkie coloring of blond, brown, and grey. He has swagger for days. He gets along so well with his dog siblings but hasn't much exposure to cats and kids in his foster home.

Cooper loves to vocalize everything on his mind so he'll need a home that finds his 'storytelling' absolutely charming, and just wait until you hear him 'AWOOOO'! He wants a home with cuddles, lots of attention, and sleeping arrangements with his human(s). He will happily take any treats on the menu and will kindly remind you if meals are late. This handsome guy is about to make your life so much more interesting and full of laughter and love. Ready to meet your dream dog?

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
