Name: Spike
Sex: Male
Estimated Age: 7-weeks old (as of 10/13)
Best Guess for Breed: Lab Mix
Weight: About 6 lbs
Lives With: Dogs, cats and all people! Puppies are in the prime of their socialization!
Housebroken? Spike is just a baby so he’s still working on his potty training.
Story: Spike was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina. We are so happy to have him safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Spike is a happy sweetie who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. He knows just how to get comfortable up on the couch with his humans, and will love to join you on walks and trots around the neighborhood. Spike is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all dogs, Spike will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive!
What my foster says: Spike is such a cutie and is extremely confident/ not stressed. He loves to cuddle, follow us around and will always go for a nap on the couch. We are working on potty training and he is very treat motivated. He will go pee outside almost immediately. When he is in his crate we leave a pad (which he doesn’t chew!) and he will potty on that if it’s an emergency but he doesn’t like to. He will cry in his crate a bit but will eventually calm himself. He isn’t really a big chewer or super mouthy like puppies we’ve fostered in the past have been. He is working on leash training but making strides. He ignores the cats and doesn’t even bother to chase them and he hasn’t been around any kids but would be fine!
The fee to adopt Spike is $450. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Spike has been seen by a shelter vet and was given a clean bill of health.
If you think that Spike might be your perfect match, apply today!
