Gilbert Grape is 3-6 years old and 13 pounds.
Gilbert is a joy! He is active, as expected for a Spitz breed, but can settle down when there isn't anyone around to play with. He loves playing with other dogs, and would be great in a home with another dog. He is totally house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He is always ready for a walk and doesn't bark at others while out; he does pull on leash. He is very sweet with his people and he meets new people well. He would be fine in a home with older children. He does bark when his people leave and might not be a good apartment dog, but does not actually have separation anxiety.
Gilbert is believed to be a full Pomeranian by people who know the breed. His ideal home will have experience taking care of a Pomeranian coat, because Gilbert's fur is gorgeous now. If not experienced, then someone that wants to learn.
Gilbert had cherry eye (prolapse of the third eyelid gland) when he came to us, but it has been surgically corrected.
Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Gilbert is $300.
If you are interested in adopting Gilbert, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.
