My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner on August 22, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Rocky Road, a fluffy, handsome guy who has a lot of love to give-but on his own terms. With the right people, he can be a warm and fuzzy cuddle bug, but he needs time to build trust. Rocky Road has mixed feelings around other dogs and tends to guard what's important to him, so he would do best as the only dog in the home. He can be particular about handling, so his new family should understand this-making him a great match for a home with kids aged 10 and up. While he's still working on potty training, he's getting the hang of walking on a leash without pulling. Rocky Road has already bonded with a few special people here and is ready to find his forever family. Ready to meet him? Bring a leash, collar, and take him home today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
