Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bear, aka "teddy bear" is a gentle goofball who just wants to be with his family. He loves his humans and bonds quickly. He follows his foster mom around the house just to be close to her. He's very sweet, loving and playful. He gets on great with his foster's kids and dogs and has the softest fur you've ever felt. He is very athletic, loves to play fetch and is a champ at catching a frisbee. He would do best in a home with a playful dog friend. Bear is approx 8 months old and will likely grow to 75-80 ish lbs. He is fully house trained, the sweetest gentlest soul and an all around good boy. He is working on leash walks and not yelling at the postman- Bear tends to bark at other dogs when out on a walk and at new people when he first meets them but quickly warms up when given reassurance. So he would do best with a loving owner who can also be a pack leader. He has a bad habit of curling up next to you and stealing your heart... please adopt this dog before he accidentally becomes a permanent member of his foster family.
We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing.
The adoption fee is $500 which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption and age appropriate spay/neuter.

More about this rescue
Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based on Long Island NY. We rescue dogs and puppies who are at risk of being euthanized in high-kill facilities across the South. Every animal we rescue is quarantined where they get vaccinated and given any medical attention needed to get them healthy. We then transport the animals up to NY where they go into our wonderful foster homes until we find them all pre screened loving forever homes. We will adopt out-of-state on a case by case basis, including, but not limited to, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our animals, to ensure a life-long loving commitment. We are dedicated to the well-being of our animals. One by One until there are none!
