My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Snoopy, the sweetest little pup you'll ever meet but also all puppy! Born on July 26, 2024, this charming 6-pound bundle of joy is a delightful mix of Beagle and Chihuahua. With his playful spirit and affectionate nature, he's ready to bring happiness to any home. Snoopy is still a puppy and has a wonderful ability to adapt to his environment, making him an ideal fit for families with kids, other dogs, or even cats. As he grows—expected to reach a lovable 10-15 pounds (estimate)—he’ll be the perfect companion for playtime and snuggles. Snoopy is on the active side and therefore will need an active family to keep his energy level down. He was raised with a family where a little girl carried him around, therefore Snoopy does get barking when left alone.

Snoopy is searching for a family who will shower him with love and guidance as he starts his puppy training journey. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this adorable pup, Snoopy is eager to become your new best friend. Come meet him today and watch your family grow with love!

Snoopy has been dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated for his age. Since he is not yet neutered, Snoopy is not available for adoption outside of the counties contiguous to Bedford County. A $50 deposit and signed neuter contract is required in addition to Snoopy’ s adoption fee.

Additional adoption info

Have you discovered a pet you wish to adopt? Great!

Now, the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website at www.bhsva.org. This is not a commitment to adopt. It is simply the first step in the process.

We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.

After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.

More about this rescue

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 and dedicated to eliminating the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Bedford County, VA through education, spay/neuter programs, and companion animal adoptions. We are NOT the tax-funded Bedford County shelter on Falling Creek Road, although we do try to help the animals there whenever possible. Our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes where they receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting a permanent home.

Our various programs for Bedford County and City of Bedford residents include::

•A low cost spay/neuter program for area pets
•The construction of an adoption animal center, Vernon D Lybolt Adoption Center, at 829 Ole Turnpike Road in Bedford.
•Find homes for abandoned and homeless animals through our adoption program.
•Help pet owners with unexpected expenses involving their pets, through our Emergency Fund program.
•Provide humane traps and spay/neuter subsidies for feral cats through our Forgotten Felines program.
•Humane Education program for area Scout troops and schools.
