Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Little Hunter came to us in the most neglectful condition.
The owner surrendered him to animal control to be euthanized because he couldn't walk and he kept biting himself on his back. This poor boy was so severely matted that he could no longer walk from the tight mats. Also, he pretty much tried to pull his skin off his back from the severe pain the tight mats were causing him. Hunter suffered for a long time from neglect.
We were able to nurture Hunter back to health and his large wound on his back healed up nicely. He also got a dental because of the tartar build up on his back teeth.
Hunter is the cutest little Schnoodle (miniature Schnauzer and Poodle mix). It is hard to tell how old Hunter actually is because of the severe neglect he suffered. The shelter estimated him to be 3 years old. We think he may be between 3 and 5 years old.
This little fella weighs a little over 13 lbs and is now at his perfect weight.
He is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm- and flea and tick preventatives.
Hunter is a total love bug. He follows his foster Mom everywhere and always wants to lay and sit next to her on the couch or armchair. He enjoys being petted and get belly rubs.
He is playful and likes to fetch his stuffed toys. But not only that, he loves to suckle on his stuffed toys and his blankies. He often falls asleep with them in his mouth. It must give him comfort and that may have been the only thing he could do is to suckle on his blanket because he couldn't walk. Just sad.
Hunter is crate-trained and house-trained. He loves going for his daily walkies and likes to check the messages the other dogs left behind on posts. He also enjoys going for car rides and looking out the window or glass door.
He gets along with all the other dogs at his foster home, but chooses not to engage much or play with them. He may be happiest getting the attention from his family as an only dog, but definitely can co-exist with other dogs in the home. He takes group walks with the other dogs and does enjoy the company then.
Hunter will do best in a home with older children or adults only, and would prefer a more quiet home with a fenced in yard preferably.
This little boy is such great joy to have around. He is such a little snuggle bug.
