My story

Meet Keyva: The Goofy Velcro Dog

Keyva is a beautiful brindle baby who absolutely loves winter and places where it snows! She’s a goofy Velcro dog and the queen of the couch. High energy and full of life, Keyva loves her walks and enjoys sniffing every inch of the yard, always on the lookout for her arch enemy—squirrels.

Keyva does have some resource guarding with food and possibly her toy baby, which may be related to a recent false pregnancy. She’s fine being left alone but definitely prefers to spend as much time as possible with her human. She’s good with women and children, though she can be a bit nervous around men.

At the moment, Keyva needs a home with no other dogs. She hasn’t always been dog aggressive, and we have a trainer working with her to help her overcome this. She does well with cats and respects the leash, though she could use some updates on her manners as she tends to pull. Keyva is fully potty trained but not crate trained, as she doesn’t like small spaces. She’s not a chewer and doesn’t tear up her stuffed animals either.

Keyva loves to be close to her human, often sitting directly on your feet or trying to squeeze between your legs in her never-ending quest to be as close as possible. If you’re interested in this beautiful brindle baby and can provide her with a loving, patient home, please let us know

More about this rescue

To rescue Great Danes from neglect, abuse, and abandonment while providing medical care and individual rehabilitation through our experienced and loving foster home program until we are able to provide each rescued Dane with a qualified, caring, and permanent home that will ensure a good quality of life they deserve.

To assist owners that cannot afford spaying, neutering or heartworm treatment as funds allow while also educating owners on affordable, local spay/neuter clinics, spay/neuter benefits, vaccinations, backyard breeding, behavior, nutrition, and obedience. Additionally, we want to be a link point to other rescues and clubs. Raising awareness around rescues and the Great Dane breed is of great importance to us.

We have been rescuing Great Danes since 2011 and we take pride in the collective love, concern, and dedication we have given to the misunderstood and forgotten Danes. It is our mission to continue to be the voices of the less fortunate Danes and to provide them safety and their birthright to a quality of life filled with love and dignity. You can help us achieve our mission by donating funds, items from our wishlist, items of relevance, your time through volunteering, or by lending your home as a foster.
