My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Norman is part of our Tree Trunk Litter, rescued from a tree trunk where he and his 8 siblings were living with their mother, a Labrador Retriever mix. Norman was born around August 23, 2024. He displays physical traits suggesting hound heritage. While his exact mix is unknown, the result is a wonderful puppy who doesn't mouth or jump on people. He's playful yet mild-mannered, making him a perfect playmate for children. Norman loves attention and is fond of cuddling in laps or resting at your feet. His foster caregiver reports that he is well-behaved in his kennel, maintaining cleanliness without any accidents. Moreover, he adapts well to car rides and is eager to learn.

More about this rescue

The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.

Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit MO) and KCK Animal Services (Kansas City KS) to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.

Background
Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so many of our adoptions take place at PetSmart stores and occasionally through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). Visit our website to learn more about us at heartofamericahs.org.
