My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 11 months
Weight: 26.7kg / 58.9lbs

A little bit about Maggie:
- children okay, older recommended due to lack of manners
- cats / small animals unknown
- dogs unknown, potential for select other dog in home pending successful dog-to-dog
- fearful of men

Maggie is a sweet soul who has overcome so much in her young life, yet she still carries the weight of her past. She can be a bit shy around men, but with patience and kindness, she’s discovering that not everyone is a source of fear.. With her big, expressive eyes that seem to tell a story of resilience, Maggie thrives in the company of gentle souls who understand her need for patience and love. Each day, she takes small steps forward, learning that not all men are a source of fear. In a safe and nurturing environment, Maggie is beginning to find comfort and joy, reminding us all that with a little kindness, healing is possible.

More about this shelter

CONNECTING LIVES SINCE 1922

From our earliest beginning, Calgary Humane Society was more than a shelter. As Calgary’s first-established animal welfare organization, connecting the lives of animals and people while providing essential animal services to the community remains our central priority.

Today, Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters almost 5,000 homeless animals each year. In 1922 we set out to help as many animals as we can and we will continue to do so by fostering the values of respect, compassion, commitment, teamwork, integrity and innovation.

Our mission is to help as many animals as we can.

Our vision is using innovative strategies to lead, inspire, and educate in the humane treatment of companion animals, fostering an enlightened community that consistently demonstrates respect and compassion for all animals.

Our dream is a community where animals are valued, humanely treated, and live enriched lives.

Calgary Humane Society is committed to creating a better tomorrow through education and collaboration.
