My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Tux! I’m a 3-month-old black Labrador mix with a heart full of love just waiting for my forever home. I was found as a stray in Alabama and saved from a kill shelter. Right now, I’m being fostered in Canton, MI, and I’m ready to find my perfect family!

I’m a playful pup who loves walks (still mastering the leash, but we’re getting there!), tug-o-war, squeaky toys, and, most importantly, snuggling! I don’t love being left alone, so I like to follow my foster mom around to keep an eye on her. I might whine for a bit, but I eventually settle down for a cozy nap.

I’m very social and would thrive in a home with another dog to play with. I get along great with kids—my foster home has a toddler, and I’m learning how to be gentle with them. I haven’t met any cats yet, but I’m open to new friends!

I’m working on my potty training and need to be supervised, but I’m a quick learner. I need a FENCED-IN YARD to explore as I grow more curious. I’m not a big fan of my crate, so having a comfy couch or bed to snuggle on is a must. I’m a little shy in the car, but once we’re moving, I settle in nicely for a cuddle.

My adoption fee is $350, and I promise to fill your home with affection, laughter, and plenty of snuggles.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
