My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Luna - a real diamond in the rough, waiting for the right forever companion to bring out her smart, sassy, adventurous and loving self! Luna was surrendered to the shelter after developing aggression issues due to changes in the household (new people, new cat). She presented very fearful and acting out, but has been improving by leaps and bounds in a calm foster environment. Luna needs someone to show her that the world can be a happy, safe, loving place full of fun and kindness.

Luna is very sensitive to sounds and fast movement - she needs a safe space of her own where she can build confidence and trust. She would not do well with children and needs a calm environment where she is the only pet. Her aggressive behavior is her fear reaction; as she learns she`s in a safe place with a human she can trust, she`ll open up to pets and head scritches. Her foster feels she has potential to be a very loving companion for the person willing to give her time and kindness.

Luna loves to sit in her cat tree and watch birds and critters - she`ll amuse herself most of the day, and let you know when she`s ready for attention and when she`s had enough.

As she builds trust and confidence she`ll begin by rewarding you with little meows to let you know she wants your attention or to play. A sure way to earn her love is by playing with wand/bird toys - she`s still young with lots of energy, and she`s got an inner frisbee football star waiting to get out!

She is a fast learner and very treat motivated (Temptations Mixups are a current fave), she`ll respond well to reinforcing good behavior with treats. She`s highly attuned to sounds, so combining treats with sound cues will go a long way to training her (she`s very dog-like in that manner) and helping her explore and accept her home. She likes to explore at night, but in her foster home she has been very respectful. She has excellent litterbox habits and prefers dry food to wet.

Pets are complex beings and prior to adoption, interested adopters will be counseled by a staff member to discuss the specific needs for each animal. This will include reviewing all known medical and behavior information.

** Please note that some animals will receive numerous inquiries, sometimes more than we can process. We appreciate your understanding and patience. **
