FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!!

***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form***

We would love to welcome Fierro into the Fetch + Releash family November 17th (subject to change). In order for Fierro to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until their new forever family can be found.

Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions.

Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care.

During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit.

Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies.

Fierro / Male / 7 months / 27 pounds / Mixed Breed / Affectionate and Playful / From Tennessee

This sweet pup and his littermates were found alone skin and bones at just weeks old, abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully our rescue partner stumbled upon them and we were able to provide them a safe place to land.

Once emaciated, now healthy and thriving, these pups are growing into lively cuties and are looking for their forever homes.

Fierro is known as “one of the twins”. Matching his brother Ford, not only in looks but personality. These two pups are evenly matched as lovers of attention, energetic and playful as well as curious. Some may say “boys will be boys” to describe them. Fierro is also smaller than his brother and has slightly longer hair giving him a somewhat scruffy look that is extra cute. Leaving his siblings behind once finding his forever family he will begin to come into his own. He would thrive in a home on his own where he can soak up all the attention for himself but would do equally well alongside another dog.

We hope he can make his way to Canada soon so he can start formal training. Fierro has never lived indoors, so potty training will be a top priority for his new family. He’s also only been on leash a couple of times but eager to learn, and with some patience and guidance, he’ll catch on quickly. Crate training will help provide him with a safe space to relax and unwind as he adjusts to his new home. Puppies need a lot of attention, mental and physical enrichment to keep them busy and out of mischief. Expect 2-3 walks per day as well as playtime. Being a food motivated pup this will aid in all of his training.

Fierro gets along well with all his siblings and has done well with the other dogs he has met so far. He also enjoys the company of all the humans that he has met including kids (8+). It’s important to remember that puppies can be nippy so it’s important to set boundaries and always have supervision when dogs are around kids. Fierro has not been around cats so a cat free home would be best.

This somewhat dopey looking sweetheart will be overjoyed having a family to call his own. There's nothing quite like bringing a puppy into your home, watching them grow, and seeing their true personality emerge. Don't miss the chance to share the last part of Fierro's puppyhood—give him a warm home this winter so he doesn't have to stay outdoors.

As a condition of the adoption contract, Fierro's new family will be required to attend and complete a basic obedience class at their own cost (proof required).

If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form

More about this rescue

Established in 2016, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer run dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs in need. Our foster dogs come from a variety of different backgrounds such as shelters, strays and surrendered pets, both locally and abroad. Through our network of volunteers, foster homes, trainers and veterinarians, we strive to give every dog the loving forever family they deserve. As a foster-based rescue, our dogs live in private homes across the Greater Toronto Area where they receive the love and attention they need to ready them for adoption.

A dog is a lifetime commitment and not to be discarded due to health, lifestyle change or inconvenience. Some of the top reasons dogs end up in shelters are lack of training, lifestyle changes (i.e. new baby, marriage), relocation, cost of dog ownership, not enough time for pet etc. Our goal is to ensure our adoptive families are well versed in the realities of dog ownership and ready to make a lifetime commitment.
