My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birch is a lucky kitty to be raised in a loving home. He is ready for a home and family of his own. He would be super happy if there are other cats or if one of his siblings is adopted with him so they can play all day.

ARF appreciates those looking to rescue a pet needing a home and especially appreciate you looking at animals needing a home that are in ARF's care in our rural communities.

More about this rescue

Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) was formed in 2014 with the goal of a regional no-kill animal shelter located in Grangeville, ID to serve Grangeville and surrounding communities. The nearest animal shelter to Grangeville is over 75 miles away. While ARF continues to work on shelter development, the members of ARF also recognized the need to improve local animal welfare in the meantime.

In 2020, ARF implemented a Trap-Neuter/Spay-Vaccinate-Release (TNVR) program for feral & stray cats, treating 188 cats in TNVR clinics throughout the year. ARF was also able to implement a spay/neuter voucher program to help those needing financial assistance to spay and neuter their pets. Both of these programs are supported by grants, fundraisers, and donations specific to spay/neuter.

In addition to the spay/neuter programs, ARF was able to initiate a foster/adoptions/transfer program in 2020 which has been very successful. This involves placing animals in urgent need of a home into temporary foster homes until ARF can find a home for them by adopting them out or through transferring them to our partner shelter organizations to help find them homes.

ARF was able to help over 500 rural cats, kittens, dogs and puppies through collaboration and coordination in 2020! As of August 2021, ARF has already helped over 300 animals.

Although the long-term goal is to build an animal shelter in Grangeville, ID to be able to better care for animals in need, ARF continues helping local animals through the spay/neuter programs and foster/adoption/transfer programs. These programs and our partnerships with SpokAnimal, McPaws, Animal Ark, and residents help to improve the lives of cats/kittens and dogs/puppies in our rural communities through collaboration and cooperation. Improving the lives of animals in need makes for a happier, healthier community for everyone!

ARF's mission is "Together we enhance the lives of animals in need". We couldn't do it without your donations and support.

ARF appreciates those looking to rescue a pet needing a home and helping us to find wonderful homes for the pets in our care. - Thank you!
