My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Madison, aka Maddie, is a 9-year-old, 24-pound Cocker Spaniel mix. She is a sweet old lady that needs a calm home with relatively few stairs to live out her golden years. Maddie does well with other calm dogs (cats unknown) although she is more into human affection. Maddie has some arthritis in her back-end but is taking a daily (inexpensive) medication which helps her immensely. Because of her arthritis, it will be key to keep her weight in check. Maddie seldom barks, which makes her a good fit for either a bottom-level apartment or a house with a yard. She is completely housebroken and can certainly be trusted in the home when left alone. Maddie is a Velcro pup and will happily follow you wherever you go in the house. This beautiful senior enjoys short daily walks and anytime car rides, although she will need a boost/lift getting in/out of an SUV. Maddie sleeps quietly in her bed in your bedroom at night. She can be shy at first but just until she feels safe.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
