My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

quirky, fun, big personality

Please note that this is a courtesy posting for Artie. Artie is not at the shelter. If you are interested or would like more information about Artie, please contact angela.kinn.ak@gmail.com.

Meet Artemis (also known as 'Artie')! Artemis is a fun approximately one year old kitty looking for a loving home. Her guardian raised her from a teenie tiny baby, but unfortunately had to give her up when she moved out of the country.

Artie is a fun, quirky cat. She knows what she likes and doesn't like and is not afraid to share her opinions with you! Artie bonds closely to her person and likes to follow you around the house and be your shadow. She loves climbing up on to you to be held and hanging out on your shoulder which are two of her favorite things. She will purr and melt in your arms when you hold her. She also likes to cuddle up right next to you in bed and she will purr you to sleep and keep you cozy and warm. She has the cutest habit of grabbing the blanket in her mouth and kneading and purring. So sweet! Artie is young and playful. She has a favorite ball she likes to carry around in her mouth and play with. She is a big fan of bird watching and likes to chatter at them so she needs a front row seat at the window.

Artie needs a loving home without other cats or kids because she gives gentle nips when she wants you to stop petting her and kids wouldn't understand that. Artie has never lived with a dog and I don't know that she would like to, but maybe if the dog was older and left her alone it might be okay? Artie was used to being an inside/outside kitty, but she's not great with other cats and doesn't appreciate being around them sometimes.

When Artie is super relaxed and in her happy place she is one of the most affectionate kitties. However, she does have limits to how much petting she will tolerate and you need to be able to understand her body language to know when she needs a break, although she is quite clear about letting you know. An experienced cat guardian who enjoys a tortie personality would be ideal for this sweetie!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*The shelter is currently open for adoptions by appointment only. Please email us at adoptycas@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting.
For other shelter services, please call us at (530) 668-5287*

To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).

If you have any other questions, please go to www.yolocountysheriff.com or call the shelter for more information.
