Meet Jill, a six month old Australian Cattle Dog/Shepherd mix.
Jill is a sweet girl who was left tied up to our adoption center doors with Jack. Upon seeing the person who tied them up run off, both Jack and Jill began struggling and panicking when they realized they were stuck. Thankfully staff saw what happened and raced out, it took multiple staff to calm them down enough to release them.
Once they were calmed down they turned out to be the sweetest dogs and we have no idea what they had done to deserve to be dumped in that manner, but we know the fault doesn't lie with them. Jill is a fun, happy girl who enjoys her treats and really likes being around people. She is a medium sized girl and will likely stay closer to medium than large. She has a great temperament and lots of love to give. Please remember that Jill is a puppy and puppy behavior comes with the package. They need basic training and potty training along with being provided chew toys to encourage proper chewing habits. All puppies require socializing from a young age to help them become the best, most well-rounded dog they can be.

The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is life saving. Before you go searching for free puppies or puppies for sale, check your local Shelters for available dogs and puppies that have been vetted and are ready to go home. Adopt Don't Shop.

Our mission is to help you find a pet that meets your expectations and lifestyle. You’re invited to visit with a prospective pet in one of our "Meet N' Greet" rooms. We also offer "Meet N' Greets" for adopters wishing to introduce a current dog to a potential new playmate.

We do our best to keep adoption prices reasonable while generating income to support our goal of caring for animals available for adoption until we can place them in a loving home. Adoption fees help provide medical care, food and shelter to the animals in our care.
