My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miso's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Miso's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=007899) to learn even more about Miso!

Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Miso is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses.

PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO VOLUME, WE ARE GENERALLY UNABLE TO RESPOND TO INQUIRIES MADE USING THE 'ASK ABOUT ME' BUTTON. Please reach out to us directly using the contact information on our website: www.muddypawsrescue.org.

Miso is a pup with a lot of love to give. She is joyful, sweet, and mindful of her humans.

She is the best crate-trained dog, hands down. She is happy to go to the crate for breaks, rests, and to settle down for the night.

Miso is pretty good about doing her bathroom business. She'll make a quiet noise in the crate to let you know if she needs to go. Say 'Miso, go pee pee' once outside and she'll usually go right away (pee pee works for peeing and pooping, btw). Still working up to longer tolerance between walks, but currently she goes out around 6/7 am to pee and poop, walks longer around 8/9 am, and then every 2-3 hours until bedtime around 10 pm. She almost always can make it until morning, though will let you know if she wakes and needs to go. In that rare case, she is very quick once outdoors and then right back to her cozy crate until morning.

Miso is improving her leash walking. Remember, she's still a puppy! She is really improving her behavior every day. She occasionally stays put when she'd rather return to her warm bed than stroll about, but coaxing with a high value treat like sliced turkey or cheese usually gets her going. Then marking her progress with positive reinforcement ('yes!' 'good girl!' etc.) will keep her moving along. She can also pull on the leash sometimes when she's ready to get home and again some patience and setting expectations helps. If you stop walking, she will check in and wait to start moving again until you give the signal. She is very eager to please.

Miso eats Spot & Tango Beef and Barley Unkibble and loves the stuff. No issues with food and will wait patiently in a sit until released to go to her food bowl. She also Loves fresh water.

Things we are working on: teaching ‘off’ if Miso jumps up with paws on the counter or jumps on the bed. Using a sweeping hand movement and then rewarding with a toy or treat seems to do the trick.

Occasionally if her human's attention is elsewhere (the computer or phone, for instance), Miso will attention bark. Wait until she is quiet then give her a toy or puzzle to redirect (using the crate if needed) and she will be fine. She settles quickly.

Miso can get nervous around loud noises like big trucks or motorbikes while out walking. City noises can be scary! In this case, if you crouch and pet her or let her into your lap for a minute, she calms right down.

She is also tentative around new people so have them ignore her until she settles. She may bark a little during the meantime but will get there.

Miso is fond of socks! So keep your favorite pair in a drawer or she might mouth them a little bit.

Miso enjoys nothing more than curling up in a ray of sunshine with a puzzle toy, rope pull, or rawhide bone or cuddling on the sofa, which is a true delight.
