Animal Profile: Jefferson is an a 9 month old male, Dobie / Cattle Dog X mix (best guess) who will be joining us from Texas on 10/07. He and his siblings were dumped and left to die, by the time they were found they were emaciated and covered in fleas. Our partner has had them since May and nursed them back to health. They are good with cats, other dogs, and kiddos and are crate trained. Love to be outside. They are waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW, where they will be looking for their forever home. We will add more information as we get it.
Foster Update: Jefferson has been with us for a few months now and is maturing into the best young dog! All of his siblings have been adopted and their genetic analysis shows 50% Doberman and 50% divided between husky, cattle dog, and terrier. This is a nice mix, which has resulted in a medium sized dog with a wonderful easy-to-live-with personality. At 9 months old and about 40 lbs, he’s nearly full grown. He’s sweet and sensitive, eager to please, generally calm and polite, and kind-hearted with everyone. He’s received compliments from clerks at the dog food store and downtown Renton pedestrians for his excellent behavior. While he LOVES tummy rubs and couch cuddles, he’s also naturally athletic and could be a great running, walking, or hiking buddy (bad weather doesn’t bother him). He has been introduced to nose-work searching and really enjoys it! He gets along great with other dogs and loves to play, but could also be happy as a solo dog. His siblings did well with cats (there are no cats in his foster home). He travels well in the car and is quiet and patient in his crate. Just an all-around good boy !
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
