Don't let Melika's nervous kennel energy fool you! With just a bit of patience and gentle words, this sweet girl came out of her shell and walked beautifully on the leash. In the yard, she was independent and curious, exploring her surroundings with confidence. But by the end of our time together, she was all about the love, leaning in to soak up every pet and snuggle. Melika would thrive in a home that understands her need for patience, and in return, she'll be the most loyal and loving companion once she knows she's safe and cherished!
On 10/23/24 I took Melika outside. She was pancaked down at the front of her kennel. I was giving treats to her neighbor and she let out a low growl. I offered her treats which she took gently. I opened the door and easily leashed her and we went outside.
She spent a lot of time pacing outside and looking around. She seemed interested in other dogs that were in the yards. She didn't show any interest in tennis balls, but seemed to like squeaky toys. I had to chase her down to get her leashed again. Once leashed, I started petting her. She was nervous at first, but soon warmed up to leaning against me and nudging my hand for more pets. Very good girl. May do well with a helper dog.
On 10/25/24 Melika met another dog. She happily approached the dog with loose body posture. She was appropriate in her greetings. The other dog repeatedly attempted to display dominance and hard stare her. She consistently deferred, avoiding conflict.
