Take the Pet Home
Found all alone in Napa, Telly came to WCAL from an AT&T maintenance yard as an itty bitty baby who needed to be bottle-fed. You may have seen her on WCAL's social media! Telly is a petite little girl who is 100% athlete. There isn't a surface she can't reach! She's also smart and really fun to share a home with. Every once in a while, Telly even slows down enough to cuddle! She loves her humans and is an amazing young cat. Her foster family has nothing but great things to say about this beautiful and outspoken calico. We're looking for an adopter who agrees and won't mind providing a special diet and attentive care.
We had some trouble weaning this little baby from a bottle onto canned food because she wasn't able to keep solids down at first. Telly was spayed and got a nose-to-tail sedated examination of her throat, esophagus, stomach, and intestines. No abnormalities or polyps or physical defects were found, but as she grew up a little bit, we noticed irritated red ulcers on her lips. Her vet confirmed with a biopsy that she's an extra sensitive girl who suffers from indolent ulcers (also called eosinophilic granulomas). These are not painful or itchy, but they can cause difficulty eating and we certainly don't want them to get infected or become a bigger issue for her. Luckily these small ulcers on the lips are usually caused by a food or flea allergy (both of which we can treat!) and this tracks with our observations about Telly's extra sensitive digestive system. She is now eating a special hydrolyzed diet and will need to continue monthly flea meds (even as an indoor-only kitty) to keep her feeling her very best. If you would enjoy sharing your home with an outspoken calico princess and don't mind feeding her a special diet to keep her feeling her best, then we have the kitten for you!
This kitten is one of those extra special babies - the ones our volunteers have bottle-raised. Kittens raised by humans are extra comfortable around people and love attention. Since they didn't have the opportunity to be raised by a mama cat, they have zero street smarts and we are looking for a family who is committed to keeping them indoorsonlyfor life. Act fast if you'd like to have a WCAL bottle baby in your family.
