My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Selina, a 4-5 year old female long haired chihuahua, with the most gorgeous Merle coloring! Selina is a local intake, she was found abandoned in a crate near Tolland, CT.

We aren't sure what Selina's life was like before she was taken into rescue, but she is very fearful of strangers and new environments. Her defense mechanism is to bark and to run and hide. She has been placed in a loving foster home and she is slowly learning to trust new people. She is a dog that needs some time to feel safe, but if you let her come to you when she is ready, she will eventually warm up and loves to be pet and loved on!

Due to her nervousness, we recommend a home with older kids age 8+ who know to respect a dog's space, or no kids. She does well with other dogs once she has some time to get to know them and feel comfortable with them. She has not been cat tested.

Selina is pee pad trained and working on outdoor potty training. She will be spayed prior to adoption. Apply to meet this special girl today!

Submit Application

Apply for the dog you are interested in. Or fill out a general application describing what you are looking for in a dog

2.
Home Check

After processing you application, you will be contacted to schedule a virtual home visit.

3.
Approve Application

After your application is processed and your home visit is done, we will let you know if you are approved to adopt!

4.
Meet the Pet

Once you are approved a meeting will be set up for you to meet with the dog you are interested in.

5.
Sign Adoption Contract

The last step is finalizing the adoption! Sign their contract, pay the adoption fee, and take your furry friend home!

We match our dogs to the best applicant for each dog! We process applications, preform a home visit, either in person or a video call. We have a discussion with you about what you're looking for in a dog, and we work with our applicants to find the dog that will best fit their home and lifestyle. We want to ensure both our rescue dogs, and adopters are set up for success and are happy!

Paws Rescue League Inc. Rescues the dogs that need saving. We believe ALL dogs deserve love, happiness, and a family. We don't just take in the puppies, or the young fully vetted dogs who are quick to adopt. We take dogs of all ages, all sizes, all breeds and we do our best to find the best family that matches their needs. We work with our adopters to make sure they are supported, and the process is as stress free as possible. We are a 501(c)(3) non profit rescue, that is run by volunteers.
