Dixie is a petite chocolate lab mix with a shy and calm nature. She may seem reserved at first, but with gentle words and a soft touch, she'll warm up and show you her affectionate side. She has a beautiful, shiny chocolate coat and soulful, winsome eyes which tell a story of longing for a safe, loving home. Once she learns to trust, she wants nothing more than to be close to you, offering her affection in return. Could you be the one to give Dixie the love she deserves?

Shelby Humane is an open intake facility in Shelby County Alabama. SH takes in over 5000 animals a year. We provide an adoption program, low-cost spay/neuter program, and low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics throughout the County. In 2018, we launched Shelby SafePet, which provides veterinary care and boarding to pets of domestic violence victims.
