DOG TEST: (Dog Selective) Ajax does well with females and would do great in a home with them. Ajax is still being tested with male dogs.

CAT TEST: (Bad with Cats) Ajax is agressive towards cats.

KID TEST: (Good with Kids) Ajax has lived in a home with younger kids and did well.
HOUSE BROKEN: (Potty Trained) Ajax seems to be mostly potty trained.
ENERGY LEVEL: (Medium-High) Ajax is a high energy playful boy. He enjoys the company of people and thinks he is a lap dog. Ajax likes to play with toys and enjoys being outside. He would be grea t with a family that likes to be active and enjoys the outdoors!

Our shelter is open 7 days a week. (Excluding holidays).

Monday- Friday 8am-5pm
Saturday- Sunday 10am-2pm

We ask that you come visit any time between open and no later than 30 minutes prior to closing. This ensures that staff will have enough time to assist you in meeting one of our great furry friends!

More about this shelter

We are a Municipal Animal Shelter for the City of Lee's Summit. We house animals brought in by Lee's Summit Animal Control Officers and Blue Springs Animal Control Officers.

Animals are also brought to us by owners that can no longer keep the animal or by strays that were impounded for running loose.

When an animal comes in as a stray, it is held for 5 days to give the owner a chance to claim it. If the owner does not claim it, on the 6th day it is put up for adoption or foster. During this 5 day holding period, if a potential adopter would like to adopt the animal, they are welcome to sign up on the adoption list. The names on the adoption list are contacted on the 6th day if no owner has made claim.
If there are no names on the adoption list, then the animal will become first come, first served when available for adoption.
