Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bailey: The Misunderstood Genius of the Shelter
Some cats chase toys. Some cats chase snacks. Bailey? Bailey chases existential truths.
At just one year old, Bailey has already spent half his life refining his craft: mastering the delicate balance between intrigue and elusiveness. He is not your average shelter cat — he is an artist, a thinker, a pioneer of the slow-burn friendship. His work? Performance art. His medium? Your heart.
Bailey will approach, his eyes deep pools of mystery, his body language whispering, “Come closer.” But just as you reach out — just as you dare to believe you are worthy — he will vanish into the nearest hidey hole, leaving you to ponder the fleeting nature of connection itself.
He is often found nestled among fellow cats, the only creatures truly capable of understanding the gravity of his vision. Humans, he believes, must prove themselves worthy. Affection, in Bailey’s world, is not handed out lightly. It is a treasure reserved for the patient, the devoted, the ones who see past the easy charm of “lap cats” and instead choose the profound, slow dance of earning trust.
If you are ready to live with a muse, a philosopher, a misunderstood genius who may one day allow you to scritch his chin for like, three seconds, then Bailey is prepared to entertain your offer.
Art takes time. So does love. Bailey understands both.More information? Call Marion Area Humane Society at 740-389-6548 or email at manager@mahspets.org

More about this shelter
Marion Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization incorporated in 1967 under ORC 1717. We strive to educate, assist and protect the animals of the Marion area. Since 1986 have operated a shelter to provide a humane environment for homeless animals. In 2011 several generous donors and grants made it possible for a shelter renovation and addition of a separate intake section. MAHS operates a open-admissions shelter with a guilt and fee free surrender policy, to encourage owners who can not properly care or maintain proper living conditions for their pets to do the best thing for the pet. MAHS also provides humane investigations and a spay/neuter voucher program for Marion county.
