Hi, I'm Astrid and am a happy and calm, small to medium sized black/brown female terrier. I was apparently roaming around as a stray south of Raleigh when these nice people found me and took me to the WCAC where I felt safe at last. I can eat, gain weight and heal from a broken jaw. Then, the nice WCAC people found my foster mommy, and she took me in. I must admit, my foster mommy is not used to fostering dogs (mostly those other smaller furry animals called cats) but because I such an easy dog to care for, she is doing an amazing job. Mom tells me I'm very calm, loving, gentle, and easy to get along with people and doggies of all kinds. I haven't been exposed to kitties yet but we shall see. Mom says I must have been trained by others before we met because I walk so well on the leash and I follow very gently. I enjoy meeting all that pass by in our neighborhood and am totally house trained. I am learning sit and my favorite thing to do is take a ride in the car. I hop right in and then, if it's a long ride, enjoy napping quietly in the back seat. Because I have short fur, I don't really shed and I rarely bark. Mom loves this solitude. I am very loving and people focused. Mom especially enjoys when I come up close and snuggle with her on the couch as I am a real snuggle bug, she says. I haven't been crated at night time because there has been no need. I have an early bedtime and don't roam around the house destroying things. I do like to have dog toys and my Nyla bone but I haven't ruined anything in my foster Mom's house. I especially like chasing after the vacuum cleaner, eating and going on walks. And you can call me a little shadow as I enjoy following my mom around the house wherever she goes (and she doesn't seem to mind at all)! When a strange person comes up to me unexpectedly, I do a low growl but more to defend my Mom. Mom is happy because she feels protected. But once I find out they are nice people, I warm up to them and start loving on them, too! The shelter told my mom that I am about 2 years old and probably had several litters of puppies in my life. I will be spayed before anyone can adopt me and I am very healthy now! Please know that Mom says I am a "perfect" dog and would fit in nicely with anyone's loving and caring family. Please email the shelter if you have any other questions about me!
