My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Marie for more information about this pet.

Sophie is a 5-month-old Brittany who loves playing with her brother Gunner.  Sophie and Gunner were surrendered together and are currently being fostered together in Wisconsin. They do not need to be adopted together. Sophie loves all of her toys that include squeakies, tug rope, balls and bones.  She loves treats and ice cubes which help tremendously for learning commands. She knows how to sit and is working on lay, come, shake, not jumping on people and overall manners.  She tugs pretty hard on the leash as there is just so much to explore.  Because she gets overly excited, Sophie jumps on people, but her foster mom is working with her.  Because of her jumping, Sophie will not be a good fit for a home with small children.  She will need continued training on all commands and manners as this is a work in progress.  Sophie loves cuddling with people, especially on the couch and bed.  She also loves giving kisses to everyone.  She is a good rider in the car, pontoon boat and UTV.  She is not very vocal and does not bark much.  Sophie is afraid of everyday sounds like the lawn mower, vacumm cleaner and sneezes and will need to be given assurance it is okay.

HI! I'm Sophie. I am very loving and easy going, and would love to be your companion!  I give the best hugs to my foster Mom, especially when she lets me sleep in her bed!  I don’t sleep through the night, especially when I am in my kennel, so my foster parents let me sleep in bed with them.  My foster Mom brings me regularly to the doggie park so I can run off leash.  I can entertain myself for hours trying to catch the elusive house fly, which I haven’t been able to master yet, but I will get there.  I am very smart and quickly learning my commands, I will also test you to see what I can get away with.

Sophie will need a home with a good-sized yard to accommodate her running zoomies.  She will need daily exercise with her new family as well as lots of love, confidence-building, and attention. She will need a lot of different types of toys to keep her entertained.  She’s been checked from nose to tail and is up to date on all her vaccines, heartworm negative, micro-chipped and on preventative.  Now all that’s missing is her Furever Home!

More about this rescue

National Brittany Rescue and Adoption Network (NBRAN), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a network of caring and dedicated volunteers who have a deep passion for dog rescue and specifically the homeless Brittany, affectionately called a "Britt."

Once called "the Brittany Spaniel," the AKC has officially changed their breed name to "the American Brittany." A Brittany retains a puppy-like quality in their personality and are gentle, clownish, active dogs. They are great family dogs.

The number of dogs available for adoption varies from month to month.
