My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you been looking for a sweet dog thats a perfect medium size? You may just fall in love with sweet Berry.

Berry is 3-4 years old, she's over that potty training stage and is a fabulous mini Lab. She is just about 50lbs. Her fur is like velvet. Yes, she has white on her face, paws and chest, but she isn't old, its just the way her coloring is. You should see her beautiful white healthy teeth! She loves being around people.

Her favorite pastime is chasing squirrels and things outside. While she does enjoy being outside she also loves to snuggle on the couch or a dog bed. She enjoys the company of other dogs, she is currently fostered with another big dog that they like to chase and play outside together.

Berry is a pretty calm girl. Very easy going. She has learned her foster homes routines fairly quickly.
A great match for Berry would be those that like the outdoors and will include her. Whether its frequent walks or working outside or hiking, Berry could be your gal. She currently has a huge back yard that she likes to venture around with her foster pawrent.

Cats - Berry currently lives with a cat in the home. At first she was really interested in the cat, she just wanted to see where she was all the time. Now she just seems to think she's a weird furry something.
Berry can be crated when you are away, she loves to sleep in the room with you. She sleeps on her doggy bed at night.

Berry walks really well on a leash. We have taken her out to several public places where she has been well behaved and chill. She just likes people of all ages.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We do our best to match up potential adopters with just the right pet as we want to ensure a lifelong placement for the rescued animal. Our adoption process includes an initial application, with home visit, reference and vet checks. If the match is a good one, we then have an adoption contract that is executed. We have a commitment not only to our adopted dogs, but also to the families that adopt them, and we are always available to help with the transition to a new home. We check in during the first few weeks to answer any questions or help with any issues - or to just give you someone to brag to about your new baby. We can't hear that too much!

More about this rescue

Shelter2Rescue Coalition is an all-volunteer rescue organization dedicated to the safe-rehoming of shelter animals. We started as a rescue facilitation organization, helping rural shelters publicize their at-risk dogs, thereby dramatically reducing the need to euthanize for space. Then, as we worked with more shelters, it became very apparent that if we could just buy the dogs up for euthanasia just a little more time, you could save even more lives. The 72-hour hold limit at most shelters just wasn't enough for most dogs to get out. Therefore, we expanded and built partnerships with boarding facilities, transport organizations and other nationwide rescues in order to be able to provide a temporary safe haven for dogs out of time. We have now expanded Shelter2Rescue Coalition to include our own adoption program. Since June 2007, through facilitation and adoption, Shelter2Rescue Coalition volunteers have saved over 2000 dogs and cats.
