Dog Name: Arabella
Breed: Lab mix
Sex: Female
Age: 3
Weight: 35
Medical Needs: Heartworm positive
Treatment scheduled for 11/25 and 11/26 at our vet in Milford. Appts must be kept in order for GRR to cover the cost.
Housebroken: Does great with a schedule.
Crate trained: Yes! She loves her crate. It's her safe space.
Good in the car: Yes
Good on a leash: Work in progress. She is great in the yard at her foster home, but is easily spooked outside of that.
Energy level: Pretty chill with an occasional burst of zoomies
Need a fenced in yard: Yes. Since she is still so skiddish, a home with a fence will give her the best opportunity to settle in and gain confidence.
Dog Friendly: Yes!
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes. She would do best in a home with a friendly, confident dog to show her the ropes.
Cat Friendly? Yes
Kid Friendly: Unknown
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with?
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Arabella is one of the recently rescued pups who was saved from the overcrowded "rescue" in GA. She had little socialization there and likely never knew anything outside of her kennel. Because of this, she is very timid and nervous with new people and places.
She didn't take long to settle in at her foster home, though she is still skittish around men or when there's any sudden movement. Her response is to run to her crate until she determines she's safe. She is easily coaxed out though with just a few gentle words.
Arabella is finally learning what it is to be a family pet. She loves tossing her toys around and cuddling on the sofa. She especially loves her doggy friends and racing them around the yard at night.
Arabella's ideal home would be one that's on the quieter side, with people who are willing to give her a little time and space to settle in. She will win you over in no time with her adorable pouty lip, and her evening zoomie antics.
